Item Description
A beautiful, really unusual elongated cluster of barites with serrated edges, most likely found during the late 1800s or early 1900s heyday of the northern English spar district. This is an extremely choice example, and is robust and sturdy. It is also more brightly colorful than many such crystals, and preserved in pristine condition. From the Dr. Ed David collection, purchased in 1998 from another dealer for what seems a very cheap price for the quality to me, of $2500. Worth more now, I would say! Certaily at the Munich show these days, I see nothing comparable in Europe, for near this price - and that is aside form the unique aesthetics of this unusual specimen. In person it really is strikingly different from any other barite I have handled form this locale, in its aesthetics
