Item Description
Northumberland Mine, Nevada barites bear a strong resemblence to classic English barites, as the photos testify. This signficant, large single is glassy, translucent, has rich amber color and a sharp, chisel termination. The two sidecar crystals are a very nice accent. Complete all-around, a very modest bit of edgewear is noted on the front, but is certainly only a minor detraction. A contact and cleaving at the base on the back are totally out of sight. High quality barites, such as this, are seldom on the market from this locale. Probably mined in the 1980s. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Valued at $650-850.
