Item Description

A fine large example of the glassy barites found in the mid-1980s at the Book Cliffs. The gem-like crystals with chisel terminations stand upright on the starkly contrasting brecciated matrix, almost like large shards of glass. This is a large crystal for the find, measuring 7.5 x 5.0 x 4.5 cm. Contacting with modest bruising is noted, this remains a large, highly representative, two-sided example from western Colorado. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection.
