Barite (Schlichter Coll.)

Item Description

Blocky, lustrous, translucent, color-zoned honey-brown to golden-yellow, barite crystals form a showy and aesthetic barite specimen from Montana. The striking, large, dominating crystal is 2.3 x 2.0 cm. Many of the crystals have a preferential secondary barite overgrowth giving them a nifty frosted look. A bit of periphery wear and light bruising to a corner of the large crystal is noted, but certainly nothing to detraction. A high quality example of the species and locale from the Ernie and Vera Schlichter Collection. Valued $400-500.
