Item Description

Mineral specimens of any species are rare from this old mine (opened in 1832) at historic Pribram. This a large and sharp barite crystal with very high glassy luster and textbook form. The honey-brown to dark brown crystal is partially translucent. The sawtooth and chisel edges are striking features. The notched edge is a cleave. This remains a very significant large barite from Pribram (even the mine level is known) and is a large crystal for any species from this famous mining district. This piece is quite likely old. Ex Josef Vajdak Collection, a noted Pribram specialist.
