Barite on Quartz

A showy and aesthetic example of these now seldom seen Barite / Quartz specimens from the Jinkouhe District in Sichuan, China. In the early to mid 2000s, there were a good number of these eye-catching pieces on the market, but they have dwindled and now are certainly much harder to find. Dozens of euhedral, sharp, gemmy, white thick blades of Barite measuring up to 1.1 cm on edge are beautifully festooning a cluster of prismatic, colorless, gem quality Quartz crystals. Minor spots of an orange iron oxide inclusion give the piece definition and character, which allows the viewer to easily discern the Barites from the Quartz. Minimal damage. It's so darned three-dimensional and displayable which is noteworthy considering the two main species on the piece have virtually no color!
