Barite on Quartz

Item Description

Gem-like, blocky to tabular, golden-amber barite crystals to 1.2 cm are richly and attractively scattered on both sides of this quartz rib from finds in China a couple of years ago. I like the placement of the large crystal on the crest. This crystal does have a ding on an inside edge and a bit of periphery wear, but these are both strongly minimized by the preferred display view. Sadly, very few of these pretty specimens have come out, and one wonders if any more will. Fine material with scintillating crystals.
