Item Description
A fabulous LARGE cluster of elegant, carved-looking blades of gemmy barite, from this now-famous find of about 4-5 years ago. These intergrown, tabular, color zoned crystals of barite, to 5.7 cm across, are lustrous and translucent to gemmy. The center of the crystals exhibits a medium gray color while the edges are darker gray with some subtle shading as well. This large and fine cluster is emplaced on a color contrasting, tan matrix. Few exist of this size, recovered from the hard rock of a difficult locality> There is only the most minor and trivial damage to this piece. Even at the time they were plentiful, this would have been valued at $2000 or more.
