Item Description
Not your typical Linwood Barite that we've been seeing over the past few years. This piece was discovered in late 2014, and is a far cry from the single gemmy "silvery" colored crystals that have been on the market recently. This is a really beautiful form for the species and the locality. A large group consisting of hundreds of small (up to about 6 or 7 mm) tabular, "chisel"-shaped, bladed, beautiful cream colored Barites have grown on somewhat altered Limestone matrix into the shape of a big "hedgehog". The piece is showy, good quality, and only has minor nicks here and there, which is remarkable for the size, as most of them are badly damaged. This piece came to us with a price tag of $1,000, and it's a very worthwhile large cabinet display piece for what it is.
