Item Description
A FINE quality display specimen of superb, sharp, lustrous, GEM/gemmy, bladed colorless Barite crytals (with a slight reddish hue in areas) forming a lovely cluster on matrix. The crystals are as sharp and bright and lustrous as any I've seen from the locality, and considering they measure up to 2.2 cm, they are very good sized for the material. For the most part, the vast majority of the crystals are undamaged outside of the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket. These are not easy to find with such a rich coverage of undamaged high quality crystals like this. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #692). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Regne Mineral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
