Barite (GEM quality) (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

This locality has produced some of the most classic and easily recognizable Barite specimens from anywhere in the United States. The soft grey-blue color combined with the excellent quality of the crystals makes them a Colorado classic for sure. This piece is an incredibly good, GEM quality rich blue (virtually no grey overtone) Barite crystal with good luster, and very shape faces. Unfortunately, the piece is contacted on the termination, but remains one of the most water clear crystals I have seen from this classic locality. Typically, even the very gemmy crystals from Stoneham have somewhat of a satiny luster, and this one is really glassy for the material. From the Colorado collection of Richard Kosnar.
