Item Description

Elk Creek barites are a US classic and this is a very showy, highly representative large combination specimen. An impressive, large, very glassy and gemmy, root beer-colored, tapered barite crystal has a frosted termination and nifty, step--growth faces on the front. It is attached to a classic plate of golden-yellow calcite rhombs. The smooth back of the crystal shows the beautiful barite gemminess. The middle of the barite crystal is repaired, but this remains a fine large and aesthetic example of the combination species and famous locale. Both species GLOW, when backlit. Ghostly white fluorescence. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
