Barite (ex Richard Rossi Collection)

The Les Malines District is probably best known for producing some of the most impressive specimens of Bournonite in the modern age of mineral collecting, but there are many other species from this area, including some beautiful and high quality Barites. Here we have a lovely example of this material featuring gorgeous off-white colored "rosettes" comprising thin bladed Barite crystals on matrix. The upper-central portion of the specimen is in great condition, but the lower area is understandably contacted where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. This particular style is not terribly common in my experience from Les Malines, so if you're a fan of Barites of minerals of France, be sure to pick this one up. From the collection of Richard Rossi.
