Item Description
Barite is rarely seen from Creede in fine specimens, but the Bulldog Mine (Bulldog Mountain Mine) is single great locality for crystallized Barite in Creede. This locality gave collectors some interesting and fine quality specimens of mostly white Barite for a short time. This is a beautiful specimen of Barite from the Bulldog Mountain Mine in Creede. Many fine quality, sharp, highly lustrous, white to nearly colorless, tabular bladed Barite crystals form this attractive miniature specimen. No matrix, but good quality all the way around. Barites are known from other ore bodies in Colorado like Leadville and Gilman, and while Creede had some amazing sulfides, good Barites like this are few and far between.
