Item Description

The Sherman mine produced some of the most impressive golden Barite specimens from Colorado, and when they're good, they're amazing. This mine is long closed and hasn't produced specimens for nearly 20 years, and these pieces are highly prized by Colorado collectors. They simply aren't seen on the market today, like most great U.S. classics. This important and fine quality specimen is essentially a large, modified, sharp, lustrous, THICK tabular golden color Barite crystal group. The piece has excellen stepped faces, and is simply one of the thickest specimens of Barite that I have seen from this mine. The color is top notch, and the piece is in good shape overall, save a contact on the back side of the termination. The piece was valued at $1200 in the catalogue of Rich Kosnar's Colorado collection. A great Colorado classic from approximately 30 years ago.
