Item Description

There are many localities for Barite all over Colorado, from sedimentary deposits to ore bodies. One of the most well-known localities for the species is Muddy Creek in the southwestern corner of Colorado. This attractive cabinet display specimen features several good quality, large, sharp, translucent, beautiful silvery-blue colored, thick bladed crystals of Barite measuring up to 4.3 cm on host rock matrix. The main Barite is doubly-terminated an in fine condition, while the other crystals on the underside of the piece are in good shape overall, though a few contacts can be seen. This piece is bigger and better quality than the vast majority that we've had to offer as the crystals are better color and GEMMIER than nearly anything we've seen from Muddy Creek. Valued at $1,500 in the inventory. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
