Barite (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

This specimen is at leat 30 years old, and possibly older as it resembles other Barites from Hartsel that I have seen which were found in the 1960's and 1970's. This area has produced some of the best known "blue" Barites from Colorado, and these specimens are sought after by Colorado collectors. Here we have a nice display piece featuring a pair of sharp, lustrous, bladed, soft blue color, transcluent Barite crystals in parallel growth. Ex Brian Kosnar Collection. Very minor roughness along one edge, but great shape overall. A good small miniature of this hard to find material.
