Item Description

Distinctive, single, doubly-terminated Barite crystal from the famous Nchwaning Mine. Barite is fairly rare from Nchwaning, and this 5.7 cm rhombic prism is all you could hope for. The main faces are frosted, but the faces of the modified chisel-point terminations are clear and glassy, allowing you to see into the totally gemmy crystal. There is a little bit of edgewear, but it is minimal and has little effect on the overall aesthetics. There is one small bit of attached mineral, which is probably the attachment point for the near-floater. The light flesh-color is attractive, and the overall habit is very sharp. Superb for the location and just plain unusual!
