Item Description

The famous Pohla Mine is well-known for its beautiful "herringbone"-esque Silver crystals, but I would say that it is equally well-known for its fantastic golden Barite crystals. This specimen is a great example of these famous old Barites featuring several very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, rich golden colored prismatic crystals aesthetically growing on a partial layer of iron-stained drusy Quartz crystals on underlying matrix. The largest crystal measures 3.2 cm long and is doubly-terminated. With a bit of backlighting, you can see the crystals are rather gemmy, and the color just glows! A few tiny golden metallic Pyrite crystals can be seen sprinkled about. Very little damage is visible on the piece, and it's rather showy to boot. A fine example of this wonderful historic material dating back a few decades. Valued in the inventory at $900.
