Item Description

Glassy, thin tabular upright barite crystals to 5.0 cm in showy jackstraw fashion make a fine small cabinet on this excellent example from this well-known old French locale, where barites are still recovered. The highly lustrous, translucent blades have sharp chisel terminations and are nicely accented by small barite crystals and preferential coatings of iron oxides, that add pazzazz. A showy 360-degree piece with only modest periphery wear and a trivial bit of crystal edge wear. Classic material from the Bob Trimingham Collection.
