Item Description

The famous locality at Elk Creek has produced some of the most distinctive and eye-catching barite specimens in the world. This piece features a gemmy, 4.3 cm, honey-gold barite crystal aesthetically set on the end of fine-color yellow calcite crystal matrix. The barite has the classic, razor sharp, chisel termination with etched faces. The crystal is in excellent shape, with only a trivial bruise on a termination edge and on one side. The calcite is pristine all-around. We have had many of these specimens, and for the size and combination, it is an excellent matrix piece. The Schneiders label dates from 1980-1996. The calcite fluoresces yellow.
