Item Description
An attractive and fairly hard to find Barite specimen from this well known locality in Georgia. A handful of silvery-blue, sharp, somewhat thick, orthorhombic blades of Barite measuring up to 2.0 cm sit on minor matrix. The piece has some contacts on the back top edge, but the front is in good shape, and as you can see from the photos, it still does display well. The crystals are even slightly gemmy, which is a nice touch. These are certainly some of the most desirable Barites from anywhere in the southern U.S., and pieces like this simply are not on the market anymore. I don't know which mine this piece is from as there are over 50 in the district, so I simply labeled it as Cartersville.
