Item Description
Exotic rare style goethite from one of the numeous extinct iron mines of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This striking 360-degree small cabinet highlights the dense variable golden to brown banding of the radial fibrous goethite. The pebbly and botryoidal rind on the top is a fine accent. Most UP goethite is botryoidal making this a fine rarity for what it is. Ex Roy Drier Collection, a Professor of Metallurgy at Michigan Tech and donated to the Seaman Museum following his death in 1974. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1999.
