Item Description

A striking partial nodule of dark brown to golden brown fibrous, banded goethite in botryoidal form from a long-extinct underground Michigan iron mine. Iron ore was first discovered in this area of the Upper Peninsula in 1844. It displays well from several angles and there is an older cloth label attached to the piece. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. A must for the locality or species collector. RARE material from this locale.
