Bahianite (rare)

Item Description

Bahianite is only found in Brazil (named after the state of Bahia) and has a very unique chemistry considering that it's a metallic oxide that is not black but rather an orange-tan color. This "Oval" cut stone is translucent, so it's not true gem quality, but this is very rare material, and is amazingly durable with a hardness of 9. I've seen small nuggets of Bahianite now and then, and even a polished slab, but faceted gems are quite rare. A great rare stone to add to your collection.
