Babingtonite, prehnite and calcite from this classic US locale for babingtonite. A 2.5 cm on the diagonal lustrous jet-black babingtonite crystal is smartly set among starkly contrasting lustrous, translucent, rich mint-green prehnite botryoids. An adjacent 3.3 cm blocky calcite rhomb is a super accessory on the sculptural large basalt matrix from this traprock quarry. This is a large calcite crystal for the locale. Both the babingtonite and calcite rhomb were contacted against the roof of the vug with very little, if any, actual damage. Westfield babingtonites were the world's finest for at least a century and highly prized, until the recent Chinese finds.
