Babingtonite & Prehnite on Quartz

Sharp, lustrous, jet-black, babingtonite prisms are richly and aesthetically clustered on a thin rind of botryoidal, mint-green, prehnite on massive quartz matrix. Quartz crystals on either side of the babingtonites are a nice accent. The large babingtonite is 1.5 x 1.0 cm. This Chinese locality has recently produced some of the finest babingtonites in the world. An excellent and showy combination specimen. This piece would be much more expensive, if from Massachusetts! The Chinese material has redefined what the average quality a collector can own, for this species. Colorfully, some of the quartz points are tinted with iron oxides.
