Azurite with Malachite (rare locality)

Specimens from the Salairsky Mine are very uncommon and this is a fabulous and colorful Azurite and Malachite piece from the locality! In fact, we have not seen a better for sale. Kurt Hefendehl acquired this and most of his Russian suite in the 1990s direct from the earliest Russian dealers to go out to the Munich show. There are multiple sprays of electric blue Azurite crystals some of which are partially or totally altered to Malachite. The brilliant blue Azurite groups are composed of numerous, bladed spear-point crystals to nearly 3 cm in length in tightly divergent sprays. The sprays are larger at the top of the piece and smaller near the bottom and they all have intense color and display a faintly chatoyant luster the way the light plays on them! Some Azurites at the middle-top are nearly to completely replaced by bright green Malachite as are some Azurites at the lower right of the piece. The arrangement of the both species along with their color and textures make for a very aesthetic piece from this uncommon locality!
