Azurite with Malachite (RARE Congolese locality)

Item Description

Although Azurite is a commonly seen secondary mineral in copper deposits around the world, it's honestly not that easy to find from the vast copper deposits that exist in the Haut-Katanga Province of DR Congo. As a matter of fact, if you eliminate the specimens from the Kimbwe Mine, you could say that crystallized Azurite is downright RARE from anywhere in DR Congo. This piece is labeled as coming from Mulungwishi, and mindat.org does confirm that both Azurite and Malachite have been reported from there, but it's an obscure locality, and this particular piece is the FIRST example we've ever seen from there. It's honestly a very attractive, showy and fine quality miniature display specimen featuring beautiful vibrant deep blue "rose"-style formations of Azurite, associated with deep forest green colored, layered bladed groups of Malachite. There is a gentle sparkling luster than be seen on both the Azurite and Malachite crystals. No major damage that I can see, and it's really attrctive in person. If you collect secondary ore minerals, copper species, Azurite and/or Malachite or you simply appreciate RARE locality specimens, this is something that I'm sure most of you don't have representation in your collections, so don't miss out. It's the ONLY one we have to offer.
