Azurite with Malachite on Quartz

This is a beautiful and complex specimen which shows a really rare association of azurite that grew upon and cast over quartz crystals. While you see the association from time to time, rarely, actual coverage like this is extremely uncommon and most specimens are spotty and sort of warty looking, for lack of a better word. This one is rich, blue, sparkling, and pretty on a shelf. A very few of the cast overgrowths form draperies or shawls that did not quite close, letting you look inside to see the gemmy quartz points within. A highly unusual, small cabinet display piece.
