Item Description

The Burra Burra Mine dates back over 150 years, and produced literally millions of pounds of Malachite. This piece is an interesting and unusual piece from this famous mine as it features several spherical aggregates of medium blue Azurite, which are coating rich green, fibrous Malachite and sitting on plae blue-green Chrysocolla matrix. Rarely does one find Azurite coating Malachite like this, but it seems to be somewhat common from the Burra Burra Mine. The largest Azurite "sphere" measures 1.5 cm across. Certainly one of the few pieces of this material that I have handled, and a worthwhile small cabinet display piece of this historic and classic material. For all you Azurite collectors, this is great opportunity to obtain an attractive "hand sized" display piece of this hard to find material. From the Rich Kosnar collection, who obtained the piece from noted dealer Charlie Key according to the label.
