Item Description
Azurite from Tsumeb is one of the most classic and highly sought after species on the planet. These specimens are no longer being mined, and they have some of the most distinctive and attractive forms of any mineral. This piece features several a few slightly gemmy, deep electric blue color, uniquely and beautifully curved crystals of Azurite which are aesthetically studded with beautiful green Malachite and minor Bayldonite on the bottom. An attractive small cabinet / large miniature specimen, and good quality for this historic locality. The piece is really different in appearance from Azurite I have seen from virtually any world locality. Azurite is not a species that most people consider to be gemmy, but the best from Tsumeb are incredibly gemm when backlit, and the main crystal on this piece does show beautiful color when you put a light behind it. Tsumeb specimens are rising in value by the minute it seems, and this piece was valued at $800, so I'm sure it will end up being a great bargain for one fortunate bidder.
