Azurite with Malachite (early 1900s)

Tsumeb is undoubtedly one of, if not THE greatest mineral locality in the world. The wealth of fine quality examples of literally hundreds of species that were found there is breathtaking. This piece is a beautiful old time example dating back to the very early days of Tsumeb (early 1900s) and features stark midnight blue color, very sharp, rather lustrous, crystals of Azurite, which are partially altering to chatoyant fibrous green Malachite in places. The front face of the specimen is in fine condition, and the bright reflective luster of the Azurite crystals is excellent for the species. A lovely antique specimen from this prolific locality.
