Azurite with Malachite (circa 1900)

Classic combination specimen of the two famous copper ores, from the historic mines at Bisbee! Here is an appealing specimen of sparkling navy-blue Azurite blades and rosettes with primary botryoidal green Malachite all on an ochre-brown Limonitic host matrix. This beautiful large cabinet is an excellent example of why pieces from Bisbee have been coveted by collectors for over 100 years. Upon a closer more detailed look there are numerous vugs and cavities to be explored with magnification that show just how gemmy electric-blue the Azurites crystals are, especially under a bright light. The piece is in great condition with some subtle wear that is acceptable for this much older piece and should be from the early 1900s era of mining here. It is not a killer, but it is representative of the type of material found here at the time, and smelted for ore. A great example of the classic material from the famous locale.
