Item Description

Bisbee is one of the great copper districts, not just in the US, but the world. It is famous for its prolific amounts of fine quality Azurite and Malachite that were found in various mines. Not all of this material was "specimen grade", but those in the lapidary world quickly found that pieces that wouldn't be desirable as specimens were truly some of the best "gem grade" Azurite/Malachite ever found. This stone is an impressive, big, hefty cabochon featuring a rich blue layer of Azurite, with small accenting spots of green Malachite, and a tiny bit of sky blue Chrysocolla. The combination of Azurite with Malachite is about as classic as it gets for Bisbee, and the added touch of Chrysocolla makes the stone all the more desirable. A fantastic big stone of this important historic material.
