Item Description

The Azurite and Malachite specimens from the Tongshan Mine and the Liufengshan Mine in the Guichi District of Anhui, China are some of the most iconic examples of the species ever found. They are somewhat reminiscent to the famous combinations from Bisbee, Arizona. These specimens I think can be regarded as classics now since they've been on market for many years, but in a limited capacity recently. This attractive small cabinet features a rich coverage of sparkling, very sharp, deep royal blue crystals of Azurite measuring up to 3 mm associated with intermixed mint green Malachite and a bit of oxidized brown host rock matrix. Up close many of the Azurites are just beautiful and textbook in form. The piece is in good condition, save a small area on the lower front edge where it was removed from the pocket wall. A beautiful example of these well-known and beloved specimens from China.
