Azurite with Calcite

Item Description

Sculptural diverging pair of tabular azurite crystals embedded with calcite from renowned Tsumeb. The highly lustrous, well-striated, terminated crystals are mostly jet-black, BUT have striking, desirable areas of "electric-blue" color and translucency. The large crystal has a contacted termination edge and a bit of contacting by embedded calcite. These are certainly modest detractions. The calcite has modest LW UV orange fluorescence. Comes with an older South West Africa label. Namibia gained independence from South Africa in 1990. Ex John Dagenais Collection, a well-known Canadian collector.
