Azurite (Willard Perkin & Kay Robertson Coll.)

A beautifully sharp azurite crystal thumbnail from Touissit. The midnight-blue crystal has mirror-like luster, a striking razor sharp chisel termination and is dramatically highlighted by areas of gorgeous electric-blue color. Complete all-around and in great shape. Part of the back and one edge is contacted, but there is very little actual damage. A very fine single azurite crystal from Touissit. Classic older material from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12174. It was a birthday gift from dealer Jean Hamel in 1990. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
