Glorious, highly lustrous rich blue blocky azurite crystals have stunning "electric-blue" color under bright light on this very rich and attractive small cabinet from this now well-known Cu-Au mine in Laos. The crystals, to 2.1 cm (doubly terminated) are preferentially partially pseudomorphed by malachite, adding contrast and character. This mine produced world-class azurite specimens until its closing in 2015 and are comparable in quality to azurites from Bisbee, Arizona and Milpillas, Mexico. The underlying matrix crust is scalloped Goethite, indicating the piece is from the Sepon Mine. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $145, for free, as this came right off our display shelves. A very fine and rich, seldom on the market today, azurite and malachite from the locale. Valued at $2000-3000, and from finds of about 2015-2016.
