Azurite (unusual for locale))

Item Description

This doublet of Azurite crystals represents an unusual style from the Shilu Mine with sharp and more isolated crystals than we normally saw - back in the day. This lustrous pair of royal-blue, blocky, diamond-shaped crystals are growing nearly perpendicular to one another and have smaller clusters of crystals growing within the diamond shapes on both sides, giving them a rosette-like appearance. Each of the diamond-shaped Azurites are 4 cm across and 1 cm thick. There doesn't seem to be any point of attachment making them a genuine floater. It reminds me of the classic specimens from Bisbee or Chessy. The quality and aesthetics of this small cabinet piece is very good! It is characteristic of the older material from here, which came out in the 1980s and 1990s but seems to have either been from a recent find or a recently released lot form one of the old dealers in the area, as we bought it in China a couple of years ago. It is a superb miniature.
