Item Description
A superb, large, well-formed, notably thick and blocky, deep blue lustrous Azurite "rose" cluster from this older material dating back nearly 40 years! It's almost complete all around - a near floater with only one real point of attachment on the bottom / back of the piece. The quality is excellent, it sits and displays beautifully without the aid of clay or a base. Please note that there is a bit of attached styrofoam on the back of the specimen, presumably where somebody had it mounted. This is one of the early ones to have reached the US market, acquired in the early 1980's by Richard Kosnar. Azurites of this magnitude are rare from anywhere, so do not let the quantity of azurites from China dull your appreciation of a specimen such as this, no matter where it is from. This piece was valued at $2,500 in the inventory.
