Item Description
Two large azurite "suns" dramatically cover the sculptural, large layered kaolinite siltstone matrix. The impressive large "sun" is 7.5 cm across. The radiating disks have royal-blue septa, that separate the navy-blue crystallized azurite. The showy piece is visibly enhanced by the two "suns" being on different layers of matrix and by the very interesting collapse of part of the edge of the large disk onto the underlying matrix after crystal growth. The surreal rosettes are from recent finds in Australia. The azurite suns form between layers of kaolinized siltstone. The aggregates were forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. Not another azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this. A striking large two "sun" specimen.
