Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Azurite "suns" from the Malbunka Copper Mine. These specimens are well known for their interesting form, best associated with this locality. This piece is essentially a semi-layered, rich blue colored, compressed "rosette" of Azurite free of matrix. The Azurite suns form between layers of kaolinite, but this one has been separated and is essentially a "floater". The Azurite was forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. I don't think there is another Azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this.
