Item Description
A 5.2 cm azurite "sun" looks great atop the kaolinite siltstone matrix. This dramatic, aesthetic and colorful specimen is from recent Australian finds. The striking flattened, layered rosette has two beautiful colors of blue (navy-blue interior and royal-blue rim) The well-defined azurite rim around the crystallized interior really adds character and makes it a special quality example in this size range. The azurite suns form between layers of kaolinite. The aggregate was forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. Not another azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this. A sculptural and excellent matrix piece, valued $1000-1500.
