A gorgeous, large, flattened royal-blue azurite "sun" from recent Australian finds. This striking, aesthetic and colorful rosette, with matte luster, looks great against the kaolinite siltstone matrix. The azurite suns form between layers of kaolinized siltstone. The aggregates were forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. Not another azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this. An excellent matrix piece valued at $300 by the former dealer.
