Azurite "sun"

Item Description

A striking, aesthetic and colorful specimen of an azurite "sun" from recent Australian finds. The 2.3 cm flattened rosette, with beautiful royal-blue color and matte luster, looks great against the kaolinite siltstone matrix. The raised azurite rims really add character. The azurite suns form between layers of kaolinized siltstone. The aggregates were forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. Not another azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this. An excellent matrix piece.
