Item Description
A 4.4 cm in diameter, pristine, azurite "sun" is beautifully and aesthetically set in the large sculptural matrix. The disk has fine royal-blue color with a light clay dusting in the interior. This showy and excellent specimen is from recent finds at the Malbunka Copper Mine of Australia. The "sun" was forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner in the starkly contrasting kaolinized siltstone matrix. Not another azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this. While classics, and mined each year until the deposit goes out, this is a particularly artistic and colorful specimen.
