Azurite is a beloved species, found in a wide range of styles/habits. One of the most distinctive forms of Azurite are the famous "suns" from the Malbunka Copper Mine in Austria. These attractive and usual specimens are well known for their interesting shape, which is unlike almost anything you'll find in Azurite fro any other locality. This piece is features a semi-layered, rich blue colored, compressed "rosette" of Azurite measuring 5.7 cm across, sitting on typical kaolinized siltstone matrix. The Azurite suns form between layers of Kaolinite, and were forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner. They have to be expertly separated to reveal the treasures inside, and keep them on the matrix. Good quality and very attractive.
