Item Description
An exceptionally well-crystallized and very sculptural small cabinet azurite from the historic mines at Chessy. The impresssive doubly terminated large crystal in the center is 2.4 cm long. Crystals of this size and quality are uncommon and are highly desirable. Most azurite specimens have bladed crystals. The lustrous midnight-blue crystals have beautiful areas of electric-blue color under bright light and the scattered malachite coatings add more pizzazz. Pristine. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by 1875 and this is an outstanding example of a classic, rare form and species. Valued at $1500.
