Item Description

A fantastic display specimen of the famous and fine quality Azurites from the Morenci Mine in Arizona. This large copper deposit is unquestionably one of the premier localities for Azurite in the state. This small cabinet sized features a rich coverage of navy blue colored "roses" comprising lustrous, bladed crystals, which are associated with minor Malachite on host rock matrix. No major damage that I can see, the only roughness that I can find is around the edges where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. The piece was found on the 4900 Bench of the Northwest Extension of the mine. A few additional labels accompany the piece, including one from Mark Hay and Dick Morris that states it was formerly in the collection of R. D. Bates. A really beautiful and eye-catching piece of this classic material. Valued $2,500.
